Master's Student
Having grown up in the southeastern part of California, an area not characterized by vibrant coastal ecosystems, I am passionate about marine and environmental systems. My keen interest in aquatic science led me to obtain a Bachelor’s in Marine Science at California State University, Monterey Bay.
As an undergraduate, I took on various internships with the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the Monterey Bay Aquarium. These internships opened my eyes to education, outreach, and the opportunity to conduct meaningful research.
Now as a graduate student, I am interested in analyzing the potential impacts of tidal energy devices on aquatic species in Admiralty Inlet, Puget Sound, WA using empirical and agent-based simulation models. In my research, I am quantifying encounter and collision probabilities that can support the permitting and consenting process of marine renewable energy project development.
Research aside, I am an advocate for social and environmental justice, where I plan to teach younger and older generations the importance of being conservation stewards to protect the environment and their local community.
